How To Create A New Club

Process

If you're interested in starting a new club sport, begin by contacting the Club Sports Office and completing the New Club Sport Interest Form. After that, you’ll initiate the chartering process by attending a chartering workshop hosted by Student Activities Center (SAC). Once your student organization is officially chartered, you'll participate in a second chartering workshop with the Recreational Services Club Sports Program to finalize the process.

If your club is recreational and you intend to request funding, you must attend a budget workshop through ASUNM.

If your club is competitive and you intend to request funding, you must attend a budget workshop through Recreational Services.

Steps

  1. Contact the Club Sports Office about chartering a new club
  2. Complete the New Club Interest Form
  3. Attend a SAC chartering workshop 
  4. Attend a Recreational Servies chartering workshop 
  5. Submit all required documents
  6. Apply for funding (via ASUNM or Recreational Services, depending on the type of sport) 
  7. Await final approval 

Criteria

  1. At least 5 members 
  2. A minimum of 2 student officers
  3. All members must be current UNM students (no community members or students from other institutions) 
  4. A constitution for your organization

How to Join An Existing Club Sport

If you would like to join an existing club sport, please complete the Prospective Athletes Form. The Club Sports Office will contact you and connect you with the leadership of the club you would like to join.
